Capabilities

Fixed-wing VTOL drones, built for real missions

Jabali pairs the efficiency of a fixed-wing drone with vertical take-off: no runway, no launcher, then wing-borne flight for the long range home. Each system is configured to the mission, not sold as a fixed product. Three configurable platforms cover portable electric operations, heavy-payload missions and long-endurance hybrid flights.

Deploys from almost anywhere

Vertical
take-off

No runway and no launcher. Jabali takes off vertically from confined or unprepared sites, transitions to efficient wing-borne flight, and returns for a precise vertical landing.

Applications

Fixed-wing VTOL drone applications

Jabali gives security, border, critical-infrastructure and civil-government teams persistent, wide-area aerial surveillance. It launches vertically from confined sites, then flies long, efficient patrols carrying day and night EO/IR payloads with live video back to the operator. For intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) it keeps an area under observation for hours from a single launch, beyond the line of sight over satellite and cellular links.

Operational experience and accountable delivery

Operational experience behind every configuration

Professional buyers need credible specifications, tested integration and dependable support. The founder and team behind Jabali have operated drones since 2012, onshore and offshore, and bring that experience to every aircraft.

Track record

Tens of thousands of flights, onshore and offshore

The founder and team behind Jabali have operated drones since 2012 and pioneered offshore drone inspections in 2013. Helvetis was incorporated in 2017 and brought that team and its operating history together under one company. Tens of thousands of flights, from high-altitude Alpine environments to the North Sea and African deserts, inform how each Jabali is configured, integrated and supported.

Regulatory and certification requirements

Jabali operates under the civil UAS framework of each jurisdiction. The applicable category, authorisations and approvals are confirmed during configuration, and any certification required by the customer can be obtained.

Team and leadership

Jabali is delivered by an experienced Swiss team spanning mission engineering, system integration, software, flight operations, training and lifecycle support.

Payloads, sensors and AI

Service and support

A Swiss partner, from requirement to deployment

Helvetis is a Swiss drone company and the integration partner behind Jabali, with over a decade of civil and offshore operating experience. Every system is delivered as an operating capability, not a hardware sale.

FAQ

Fixed-wing VTOL drone questions

A fixed-wing VTOL drone is an uncrewed aircraft that takes off and lands vertically, like a multirotor, then transitions to flying on a fixed wing for efficient, long-range flight.

This removes the need for a runway or launcher while keeping the endurance and coverage of a winged aircraft. Jabali is a family of fixed-wing VTOL drones built on this principle: each system lifts off vertically from a confined or unprepared site, then cruises wing-borne to cover wide areas for hours. Helvetis supplies and integrates each Jabali, configured to the mission.

Endurance depends on the platform, the payload it carries and the conditions it flies in.

Lighter electric platforms suit routine, shorter missions, while hybrid platforms are built for long-endurance operations of up to 10 hours. Heavier payloads, strong winds and demanding flight profiles reduce time aloft, so the figure for any mission is confirmed for the chosen configuration rather than quoted as a single number. Jabali spans this range: Helvetis matches the platform and payload to how long you need to stay over an area and how far it sits from your launch point.

Multirotor drones take off vertically and hover precisely, but their range and endurance are short.

Conventional fixed-wing drones fly far and stay airborne much longer, but they usually need a runway, catapult or launcher to get airborne and a net or strip to recover. A fixed-wing VTOL drone combines the strengths of both: it lifts off and lands vertically like a multirotor, then flies on a fixed wing like an aeroplane. Jabali works this way, so a small team can deploy from a confined site and still cover wide areas for long periods, which suits missions such as ISR, search and rescue, mapping and inspection.

In search and rescue, success depends on covering large or difficult areas quickly.

A fixed-wing VTOL drone like Jabali deploys within minutes from a roadside, clearing or vessel, then flies planned search patterns over land, water and rough terrain. Thermal and EO/IR payloads help locate people by heat signature in low light and darkness, live video reaches coordinators and command, and AI-assisted detection highlights possible people, with the operator confirming every detection. Helvetis configures the thermal payload, endurance and connectivity around your search area and operating tempo.

Fixed-wing VTOL drones suit infrastructure and pipeline inspection because they cover long, linear corridors in a single flight while launching vertically from access roads and stations.

Jabali carries high-zoom optical, thermal, mapping, LiDAR and specialised sensors to detect leaks, hotspots, corrosion, encroachment and damage, including across oil and gas networks. Mapping options with RTK and PPK support repeatable inspections and change detection between passes, so crews inspect more asset per flight and build a consistent record. Helvetis matches the sensors, endurance and workflow to your asset and inspection cycle.

Yes.

Beyond stabilised electro-optical and infrared (EO/IR), thermal and mapping payloads, Jabali is designed to integrate specific sensors, communications and mission equipment across the mechanical, electrical, datalink and software layers. Mapping sensors with RTK and PPK produce survey-grade output, and specialised options such as LiDAR, multispectral, gas detection or a customer-supplied sensor are available on request. Helvetis assesses each requirement and integrates the payload to the airframe and ground control station, selected around the mission rather than fixed in advance.

Beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) operation lets the aircraft be tasked well beyond the direct radio range of the operator.

Jabali supports BVLOS over satellite links, including Starlink-compatible connectivity, and over 4G/5G cellular networks, alongside resilient radio datalinks where local networks are limited. Real-time video and telemetry keep flowing to the ground station far from the crew, subject to configuration and local regulations. Helvetis chooses and tests the right mix of links for the mission area: satellite for remote regions, cellular where networks are strong, and radio as a resilient fallback.

Yes.

Jabali supports civil protection, emergency response, police and law-enforcement agencies with wide-area observation and live situational awareness. It deploys quickly from confined sites, then provides day-and-night EO/IR and thermal observation over an incident, event or search area for hours. Live video reaches the command position, and optional AI-assisted detection helps operators focus on the situation, with a human confirming every decision. Helvetis delivers each system with the training, documentation and support the agency needs to operate it safely within its governing rules.

Yes.

Jabali supports maritime and coastal surveillance and offshore monitoring, covering large areas of open water that are costly to watch from the surface. It launches vertically from a confined deck or coastal site, then flies long patrols on the wing with EO/IR and thermal payloads for day-and-night observation of vessels, coastlines and offshore assets. Helvetis draws on more than a decade of demanding offshore operating experience to configure and support these missions; exact capability depends on the platform, sea state and weather, confirmed for the chosen configuration.

Yes.

Every Jabali is delivered as a complete operating capability: operator and maintainer training, documentation, spare parts and ongoing support, built around your unit and operating tempo. Training combines classroom, practical and simulator work so your team can plan, fly and maintain the system independently. Helvetis supports field acceptance and handover, then continues with spares, technical support and capability upgrades over the life of the system. Support arrangements are agreed with you and scaled to your operation.
